Do Something for Yourself, Organize Your Closet

Odds are, when you first moved into your house you were thrilled with all the closet space you seemed to have, but now that you have lived there for a while, do you wonder if you really had all the space you first thought you did? Can you still see the floor in your closet, or do you have to spend some time tossing clothes, shoes, books, and purses aside to find it? The old adage is true, the more space you find in your home, the more stuff you think you have to buy to put into it! This is doubly true when it comes to your closet space.

For many people, their closet not only holds their clothing and accessories, but anything else that they dont have space for as well. You may be shocked to find just how much stuff you actually have in your closet when you start trying to clean it out and organize it. Some people even end up storing their Christmas ornaments in their closet, for lack of a better place. Even if you do have to put items in your closet that dont really belong there, it doesnt have to be a cluttered mess!

When you decide it is time to organize your closet, the first thing you should do is take every single item out, and decide whether or not you really need to keep it. If you have something that you havent seen in years, or clothes that you no longer wear, is there really any point in having them take up much needed closet space? Have a yard sale, or donate those items to the local charity, just do something to get them out of your home. Once you have weeded out the items that you dont need to keep, organize everything else. Make a heap for summer clothing, shoes, purses, books, bedding, etc. When you are finished look at your piles, so you can get an idea of how much space you need to accommodate them. This will help you determine the type of closet organizer you need to buy and install.

You can add shelving units, cubbies, hooks, drawers, etc. into your closet to add more storage space. Whatever you can think of, you can find a closet organizer designed that way. It is all a matter of determining what you need, finding it, and installing it.

If you wind up with more space than you need, turn it into extra storage space, rather than cluttering it back up again. If you keep everything organized, and take up the empty space with storage items, you will be less likely to pile it all back up again. Remember, your goal is not just to organize and clean out your closet, but to keep it that way for as long as possible!

Romney’s wife wows crowd at Hispanic conference

DORAL – Before Feliciano Ramirez heard Mitt Romney speak today, he was all-but certain he was going to vote for Newt Gingrich. “He can really debate Obama on all of the issues because he’s a Washington insider,” Ramirez said, echoing the sentiments of many recent converts to the Gingrich camp. However, after hearing the two [...]

Ron Paul Debate Flushes Out Gender-Baiting Right Wing Opportunists Masquerading as Progressives

The intense debate precipitated by a post on this site, "How Ron Paul Challenges Liberals," and follow up posts by Glenn Greenwald and here serve to prove their simple yet frequently misrepresented thesis: that Ron Paul's anti-war, anti-Fed positions expose fault lines among those traveling under the "liberal" banner. Anyone who read comments on NC prior to this debate would have noticed some ...
